The Son of Rev.Gilbert Franklin and Dorothy Crank, Gary like his many siblings grew up listneing to his parents sing the songs of the legendary quartets of their time. His Mother or one of his Sisters on piano, the entire Crank family would gather around to sing in such harmonies as were rarely heard outside of a tent rivival or gospel singing. Influences that would build a passion in this young man's heart for many years to come.

In his twenties, Gary would find himself as a front man on the popular country stage in his home territory of central Kentucky, yet it was that good old gospel music that he longed to sing and by the grace of God he would get his opportunity.

After suffering a severe heartattack in his late thirties, Gary set out to make a change in his life and began to seek God's will for his future as a gospel vocalist. Within the next few years, Gary would join his cousins George and Chuck Crank along with Gary's new Step Son, Dustin Bowman to form the quartet known as The Crank Family.

The years that have followed have given Gary numerous opportunites to sing his passion, gospel music and meet and befriend some of the biggest names in the gospel music industry, including many of the heros he had grown up listening to.

God continues to bless Gary, his wife (Frankie) and their loving family.
